Degrassi: The Next Generation star Jake Epstein will join Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark as the alternate for Spider-Man/Peter Parker beginning December 8 at Broadway's Foxwoods Theatre. Matthew James Thomas, the original alternate for star Reeve Carney, played his final performance on November 11, and will soon lead A.R.T.’s upcoming production of Pippin in the title role.
Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark follows the story of Peter Parker (Carney), whose ordinary teenage life takes a turn for the extraordinary when he’s bitten by a genetically altered spider, and suddenly finds himself endowed with superpowers. Parker quickly learns that with great power comes great responsibility as he tries to juggle the demands of high school and home life, while battling the Green Goblin (Robert Cuccioli) and his band of super villains. Peter must fight to save everything he holds dear, including the beautiful girl-next-door, Mary Jane Watson (Rebecca Faulkenberry).
Epstein is best known for playing Craig on Degrassi: The Next Generation. He starred in the national tours of American Idiot and Spring Awakening. His TV and film credits include Paradise Falls, Charlie Bartlett and The Zach Files.
