Sharr White's The Other Place, starring Laurie Metcalfe, begins performances at Broadway's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on December 11. Directed by Tony winner Joe Mantello, the Manhattan Theatre Club production's opening night is set for January 10, 2013.
In The Other Place, Emmy winner and Tony nominee Metcalf stars as Juliana Smithton, a neurologist whose research leads to a potential breakthrough in Alzheimer treatment drugs. Just as it does, her life takes a disorienting turn. During a lecture to colleagues at an exclusive beach resort, she glimpses an enigmatic young woman in a yellow bikini amidst the crowd of business suits. One step at a time, a mystery unravels as contradictory evidence, blurred truth and fragmented memories collide in a cottage on the windswept shores of Cape Cod.
Metcalf’s daughter, Zoe Perry, joins the Emmy-winning actress as her stage daughter in the production. Home Alone funnyman Daniel Stern makes his Broadway debut as Metcalf's husband, Ian. The cast also features John Schiappa, reprising his role from the show's off-Broadway run.
