Quiara Alegria Hudes’ Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Water By the Spoonful begins performances at off-Broadway’s Second Stage Theatre on December 11. Directed by Davis McCallum and starring Armando Reisco, Bill Heck, Liza Colon-Zayas and more, Water By the Spoonful will open on January 8, 2013.
Set in Philadelphia, Water By the Spoonful tells the story of Elliot (Reisco), who, after serving in Iraq, returns home to connect with his Puerto Rican family. When he arrives, he discovers his family’s life is changing. As his mother’s online support group begins to overshadow Elliot’s aspirations for the future, the online world and the real world collide.
In addition to Reisco as Elliot, Water By the Spoonful stars Heck as Fountainhead, Colon-Zayas as Odessa Ortiz, Zabryna Guevara as Yazmin Ortiz, Frankie Faison as Chutes & Ladders and Sue Jean Kim as Orangutan. The Second Stage production marks the world premiere of the 2012 Pulitzer Prize-winning play.
Water By the Spoonful includes set design by Neil Patel, costume design by ESosa, lighting design by Russell Champa and sound design by Joshua Schmidt.
