Nina Raine’s family drama Tribes, starring Russell Harvard and Susannah Flood, will extend for two weeks past its initial closing date. The production, which was originally scheduled to play through January 6, 2013, will now run through January 20 at off-Broadway's Barrow Street Theatre. At the time of closing, Tribes will have given 19 previews and 391 regular performances.
Directed by David Cromer, Tribes tells the story of Billy (Harvard), a deaf young man who is struggling to be understood in his loud and opinionated hearing family. When Billy meets Sylvia (Flood), a young woman who is gradually going deaf, he finally understands what it’s like to be heard. In addition to Harvard and Flood, Tribes stars Jeff Still as Christopher, Lee Roy Rogers as Beth, Nick Westrate as Daniel and Dina Thomas as Ruth. Tribes originally opened on March 4, starring Harvard, Mare Winningham, Susan Pourfar, Will Brill, Jeff Perry and Gayle Rankin.
Tribes features scenic design by Scott Pask, costume design by Tristan Raines, lighting design by Keith Parham, sound design by Daniel Kluger and projection design by Jeff Sugg.
