The epic musical Giant, which is nearing the end of its run at off-Broadway's Public Theater, will be preserved with an original cast album featuring the show’s sweeping score by Michael John LaChiusa.
In spring 2013, Ghostlight Records will release the album, which will boast the vocal talents of Giant’s all-star cast, including Brian d’Arcy James, Kate Baldwin, PJ Griffith, Miguel Cervantes, Natalie Cortez, John Dossett, Jon Fletcher, Mackenzie Mauzy, Michele Pawk, Bobby Steggert, Katie Thompson and William Youmans. The Giant cast also features Enrique Acevedo, Raul Aranas, Becca Ayers, Mary Bacon, Xavier Cano, Rocio Del Mar Valles, Michael Halling, Melissa Mitchell, Doreen Montalvo, Allison Rogers, Isabel Santiago, Tally Sessions, Martin Sola and Matthew Stocke.
Set in turbulent Texas, Giant (based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Edna Ferber) follows the decades-long marriage of cattle rancher Bick and his high society wife Leslie as they struggle with family and fortune in a landscape rich with greed, bigotry, money… and oil.
The cast album will be produced by Kurt Deutsch and Joel Moss. Giant, which features direction by Michael Greif and a book by Sybille Pearson, ends its extended run at the Public on December 16.
