The New York premiere of Quiara Alegria Hudes’ Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Water by the Spoonful opens January 8 at off-Broadway’s Second Stage Theatre. Directed by Davis McCallum, Water by the Spoonful stars Armando Riesco, Liza Colon-Zayas and Bill Heck.
Set in Philadelphia, Water by the Spoonful tells the story of Elliot (Riesco), a young Iraq veteran who returns home to connect with his Puerto Rican family. But when his mother Odessa (Colon-Zayas) is more interested in her online addiction support chat room, Elliot must come to terms with his fragmented family.
In addition to Riesco as Elliot, Colon-Zayas as Odessa and Heck as Fountainhead, Water By the Spoonful stars Zabryna Guevara as Yazmin Ortiz, Frankie Faison as Chutes & Ladders, Sue Jean Kim as Orangutan and Ryan Shams as Policeman/Professor/Ghost.
