Chaplin, the new musical about the life of film icon Charlie Chaplin, will play in Sao Paulo, Brazil at the Teatro Procopio Ferreira in April 2014. No casting has been set. As previously announced, the current Broadway production of Chaplin will close on January 6 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.
Featuring music and lyrics by Christopher Curtis and a book by Curtis and Thomas Meehan, Chaplin tells the story of the beloved film star’s rise to fame, from the slums of London to the heights of Hollywood. The current Broadway production stars Rob McClure as Charlie Chaplin, Christiane Noll as Hannah Chaplin, Jenn Colella as Hedda Hopper, Erin Mackey as Oona O’Neill and Wayne Alan Wilcox as Sydney Chaplin. A U.S. national tour of Chaplin is scheduled to begin performances in the fall of 2014.
On Broadway, the Chaplin creative team includes set designer Beowulf Boritt, costume designers Amy Clark and Martin Pakledinaz, lighting designer Ken Billington and sound designers Scott Lehrer and Drew Levy.
