Tickets are now on sale for the Signature Theatre Company revival of David Henry Hwang’s drama The Dance and the Railroad. Starring Ruy Iskandar and Yuekun Wu, the play begins performances February 5 in the Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at off-Broadway’s Pershing Square Signature Center. Opening night is set for February 25, and the production will play a limited engagement through March 17.
Directed by May Adrales, The Dance and the Railroad is set in 1867 on a California mountaintop, and tells the story of two Chinese workers who struggle through poverty and hunger to reconnect with the traditions of their homeland. The play originally premiered at the New Federal Theatre in 1981 before transferring to off-Broadway’s Public Theater.
The creative team for The Dance and the Railroad includes scenic designer Mimi Lien, costume designer Jennifer Moeller, lighting designer Jiyoun Chang, sound design by Broken Chord Collective and music by Huang Ruo.
