Julia Murney (Wicked), Caissie Levy (Ghost), Jason Danieley (Next to Normal) and Etai Ben Shlomo (Wicked) will participate in the National Alliance for Musical Theatre’s Songwriter Spotlight Concert at 54 Below on February 11.
The one-night-only concert will spotlight Andrew Lippa (Big Fish, The Addams Family), as well as two up-and-coming songwriting teams: Sara Cooper & Zachary Redler (The Memory Show) and Michael Weiner & Alan Zachary (First Date, Secondhand Lions). Lippa will also serve as the evening’s host.
The Songwriter Spotlight Concert will feature Levy, Murney, Danieley and Shlomo performing songs from the writers’ NAMT festival shows as well as their upcoming projects. The writers themselves will share anecdotes and behind-the-scenes stories about the works represented.
A portion of the proceeds will support NAMT, a not-for-profit organization, whose programs include writer initiatives and the 25th Annual Festival of New Musicals, which takes place on October 17 and 18 at New World Stages. Musicals developed at the festival include Thoroughly Modern Millie, Children of Eden, The Drowsy Chaperone, Honk! and Songs for A New World.
