Two-time Tony winner Katie Finneran will co-star alongside Michael J. Fox in a new NBC sitcom, according to Deadline.com. Finneran will play Fox’s self involved, single and unemployed sister in the upcoming series.
Inspired by Fox's own life, the currently untitled sitcom will center around Mike Burnaby (Fox), a father balancing family life in New York City as he decides to return to his career as a news anchor after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. The series is co-created by Sam Laybourne and Will Gluck and has received a 22-episode order for this fall. The series will also feature Conor Romero and Jack Goor as Fox’s sons and Wendell Pierce as Fox’s boss.
Finneran is currently headlining the Broadway revival of Annie as Miss Hannigan. She received Tony Awards for her scene-stealing performances in Promises, Promises and Noises Off. Her other Broadway credits include Mauritius, Cabaret, The Iceman Cometh, Proposals, The Heiress, My Favorite Year, In the Summer House and Two Shakesperean Actors. She recently starred on the short-lived FOX series I Hate My Teenage Daughter.
