Alphas, a science fiction TV drama starring The Heiress’ David Strathairn, will not be renewed for a third season, according to Deadline.com. Created by Zak Penn and Michael Karnow, Alphas premiered July 11, 2011 on SyFy. The second season ender, which aired on October 22, 2012, will now have served as the series finale.
The series tells the story of Dr. Lee Rosen (Strathairn), a neurologist and psychiatrist who specializes in the study of individuals with supernatural abilities, or “Alphas.” The doctor leads a team of Alphas who investigate crime involving other individuals they also suspect to be Alphas. In addition to Strathairn, Alphas stars Ryan Cartwright, Warren Christie, Azita Ghanizada, Laura Mennell, Malik Yoba and Erin Way.
In addition to The Heiress, Strathairn’s Broadway credits include Einstein and the Polar Bear, The Three Sisters, Dance of Death and Salome. He earned an Oscar nomination for Good Night and Good Luck. Strathairn's additional film and TV credits include The Bourne Ultimatum, The Bourne Legacy, L.A. Confidential and most recently, Lincoln.
