Manhattan Theatre Club's production of Sharr White's The Other Place has extended its run at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre through March 3. The production, which stars three-time Emmy winner and Tony nominee Laurie Metcalf, was originally scheduled to conclude on February 24.
To accommodate the extension for The Other Place, MTC shifted the dates for the previously announced world premiere of Richard Greenberg's The Assembled Parties, starring Judith Light and Jessica Hecht. The production will now begin previews on March 21. Opening night is still set for April 17.
Directed by Tony winner Joe Mantello, The Other Place tells the story of a neurologist (Metcalf) whose research leads to a potential breakthrough in Alzheimer treatment drugs. Just as it does, her life takes a disorienting turn. During a lecture to colleagues at an exclusive beach resort, she glimpses an enigmatic young woman in a yellow bikini amidst the crowd of business suits. One step at a time, a mystery unravels as contradictory evidence, blurred truth and fragmented memories collide in a cottage on the windswept shores of Cape Cod. The production also stars Daniel Stern, Zoe Perry and John Schiappa.
