The music of iconic composer Stephen Schwartz will be celebrated in the new musical Snapshots: A Musical Scrapbook. The show will premiere this fall at Goodspeed’s Norma Terris Theatre in East Haddam, CT. The new musical will feature a book by David Stern interwoven with songs from Wicked, Pippin, Godspell and more. No casting, further creative team members or exact production dates have been announced at this time.
Snapshots takes place in the attic of Sue and Dan, a couple whose 30-year marriage has begun to fall apart. Together they discover a box of photographs which leads them to relive the memories of their past selves. Featuring new lyrics and orchestrations to some of Schwartz’s most beloved tunes, Snapshots reveals the humorous twists of how love united them and why life has pushed them apart. Songs in the musical include: “Popular” (Wicked), “Corner of the Sky” (Pippin), “All Good Gifts” (Godspell), “Endless Delight” (Baker’s Wife), “That’s How You Know” (from the film Enchanted), “Fathers and Sons” (Working) and many more.
Schwartz's musicals include Wicked, Godspell, Pippin, Working, The Magic Show, Rags and Children of Eden. He has been nominated for six Tony Awards, and won three Oscars for composing music for Pocahontas and The Prince of Egypt.
