Manhattan Theatre Club's The Madrid has extended its limited run before opening. Liz Flahive’s play, which was originally schedule to play through April 14, will now run through April 21. Starring Edie Falco and directed by Leigh Silverman, The Madrid will begin performances February 5 and open February 26 at New York City Center – Stage I.
In addition to Falco, The Madrid stars Frances Sternhagen, Phoebe Strole, John Ellison Conlee, Christopher Evan Welch, Heidi Schreck, Brooke Ashley Laine and Seth Clayton. Falco stars as Martha, a kindergarten teacher with a life many would desire, complete with a loving husband (Conlee) and devoted daughter, Sarah (Strole). When Martha decides to leave it all behind, it’s up to her daughter to pick up the pieces. The Madrid is a story about motherhood, freedom and trying to see the people in your family as they really are.
The creative team for The Madrid includes scenic designer David Zinn, costume designer Emily Rebholtz, lighting designer Jeff Croiter and sound designer Jill BC Du Boff. The production will feature original music by Tom Kitt.
