Casting is complete for the Signature Theatre Company revival of Lanford Wilson’s drama The Mound Builders. Directed by Jo Bonney, the production will star Zachary Booth, David Conrad, Janie Brookshire and more. Performances begin on February 26, with an official opening night on March 17 at off-Broadway’s Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at the Pershing Square Signature Center. The production is scheduled to play a limited engagement through April 7.
The play tells the story of a team of archaeologists who come to an Illinois town to unearth the mysteries of the Mound Builders. As they excavate the remains of the Native American civilization, they grapple with powerful and dangerous forces of ambition and legacy. The Mound Builders first opened off-Broadway in 1975 at Circle in the Square Downtown.
In addition to Booth as Dr. Dan Loggins, Brookshire as Cynthia Howe and Conrad as Professor August Howe, The Mound Builders stars Lisa Joyce (La Bete) as Dr. Jean Loggins, Rachel Resheff (The People in the Picture) as Kirsten, Will Rogers (The Submission) as Chad Jasker and Danielle Skraastad (The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide…) as D.K. Eriksen.
Booth has appeared off-Broadway in Prayer For My Enemy, Victoria Martin: Math Team Queen and Me, Myself & I. His film and TV credits include Damages, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, The Beaver, Keep the Lights On and Big Words. Conrad appeared on Broadway in The Deep Blue Sea and off-Broadway in Troilus and Cressida and Alice in Concert. His film and TV credits include Ghost Whisperer, Wedding Crashers, Man of Honor and Return to Paradise. Brookshire appeared in The Philanthropist on Broadway and off-Broadway in Mary Broome, Man and Superman and The Misanthrope. Her film and TV credits include The Good Wife and He’s Way More Famous Than You.
