The Broadway premiere of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic take on Cinderella begins performances at the Broadway Theatre on January 25. Starring Tony nominee Laura Osnes as Cinderella and Santino Fontana as the Prince, the Mark Brokaw-helmed production officially opens on March 3.
This musical version of the classic fairytale Cinderella was originally made for TV in 1957 and starred Oscar winner Julie Andrews. The new production features a completely reimagined book by Douglas Carter Beane and additional Rodgers and Hammerstein songs that were originally composed for other musicals, including “I’ve Lived and I’ve Loved” (cut from The Sound of Music) and “Now is the Time” (cut from South Pacific).
In addition to Osnes and Fontana, Cinderella features Tony winner Victoria Clark as the fairy godmother Marie, Tony winner Harriet Harris as Madame, Ann Harada as Charlotte, Marla Mindelle as Gabrielle, Peter Bartlett as Sebastian and Greg Hildreth as Jean-Michel.
