Ann Harada has got some fierce competition! Tony nominee Montego Glover (Memphis) has booked a role on Smash as Marissa, a compassionate, authoritative stage manager who may or may not run the show over at Hit List (the rival show-within-a-show that gives Bombshell a run for its money on season two).
TVLine reports that Glover will recur on the upcoming season, which finds Karen (Katharine McPhee) nurturing a rising composing duo (played by Jeremy Jordan and Andy Mientus) while the rest of the cast of Bombshell works to bring the show to Broadway.
Glover was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her turn in Memphis. Her TV credits include guest stints on Made in Jersey, NYC 22, White Collar and The Good Wife.
The question is, will Glover’s character get the chance to sing? Maybe duke it out with Harada’s Linda in a vocal, “Take Me Or Leave Me” style stage manager-off? In case we’re just wishfully thinking, here’s a clip of Glover singing her face off.
