Broadway.com’s resident artist Justin ‘Squigs’ Robertson recently took a trip to the Richard Rodgers Theatre to meet Maggie, Brick, and the rest of the Pollitt family of Mississippi. In this summery portrait of the Broadway revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Squigs captures the fiery relationship between the sex-starved Maggie (Scarlett Johansson) and her alcoholic, former golden boy husband Brick (Benjamin Walker) and the world that keeps this troubled couple in heat. Also featured in this powerful artwork are (from left) Ciaran Hinds as Big Daddy, Debra Monk as Big Mama, Michael Park as Gooper and Emily Bergl as Mae. See how these actors come together to create a tragic story of a Southern family in crisis by getting tickets to Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home. Click to e-mail Squigs. Photo by Matthew Murphy
