Classic Stage Company's revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Tony-winning musical Passion begins performances February 8 at the off-Broadway theater. Starring Ryan Silverman and Tony nominees Judy Kuhn and Melissa Errico, the production is directed by Tony winner John Doyle. The musical opens February 28 and will play a limited engagement through April 7.
Adapted from the film Passione d'Amore and set in 19th century Italy, Passion follows handsome soldier Giorgio (Silverman), who becomes the object of obsessive love from Fosca (Kuhn), his colonel's chronically ill, bedridden cousin. The story unfolds as Giorgio sends and receives letters from his mistress, Clara (Errico).
Passion features music direction by Rob Berman, costume design by Ann Hould-Ward, lighting design by Jane Cox, sound design by Dan Moses Schreier and orchestration by Jonathan Tunick.
