Tony winner Richard Eyre will adapt and direct Henrik Ibsen’s Ghosts at London’s Almeida Theatre this fall. The classic drama will run from September 26 through November 23, with official opening night set for October 3. No casting or creative team have been announced at this time.
Ghosts is Ibsen’s 1881 morality play about a terminally ill young man and his widowed mother, whose construction of an orphanage in memory of her late husband leads to a deeper unraveling of her family’s secrets.
Eyre’s most recent Almeida credit is his award-winning production of Hedda Gabler in 2005. His past directing credits include The Dark Earth and the Light Sky, The Judas Kiss and The Novice, as well as 17 Broadway productions including Mary Poppins, The Crucible, Skylight and Vincent in Brixton.
