Hit the Wall, a new drama about the New York City Stonewall Riots, begins performances at off-Broadway’s Barrow Street Theatre on February 19. Opening night for the Ike Holter-penned play is set for March 10.
In the early hours of June 28, 1969 a routine police raid at The Stonewall Inn, a popular underground gay bar in Greenwich Village, sparks a full-scale riot. Violent protests and street demonstrations continued for the next several days in what became known as The Stonewall Riots, thrusting a group of unlikely revolutionaries onto the frontlines of history, and igniting one of the most influential social and political movements of the 20th Century.
The cast of Hit the Wall includes Sean Allan Krill as A-Gay, Nathan Lee Graham as Carson, Gregory Haney as Mika, Matthew Greer as Cop, Nick Bailey as Newbie, Jessica Dickey as Madeline, Ben Diskant as Cliff, Rania Salem Manganaro as Peg, Carolyn Michelle Smith as Roberta and Arturo Soria as Tano, as well as Indigo Street and Ray Rizzo.
