That’ll be principal David Alan Grier to you! The three-time Tony nominee just signed a deal to play a school principal in the new CBS pilot Bad Teacher, according to Deadline.com.
Bad Teacher is a single-camera comedy series based on the 2011 movie starring Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake and Jason Segel. The CBS pilot is penned by Hilary Winston (Happy Endings, Community) and follows a sexy, foul-mouth divorcee who finds herself teaching in order to catch her next husband. No other casting has been announced at this time.
Grier, known for his stints on TV comedy shows like In Living Color and Comedy Central’s Chocolate News, was most recently seen on Broadway in the Tony-winning revival of Porgy and Bess. He has been nominated for Tony Awards for his work in Porgy and Bess, David Mamet’s Race and The First. His other Broadway credits include A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Dreamgirls.
