Newsies Then and Now! Bill Pullman Visits the Stars of the Hit Musical

One of the biggest differences between the film Newsies and the Tony-nominated musical is that the heroic reporter character changed sexes on the way to the stage. In the 1992 movie, the reporter who helped the news boys was Bryan Denton, played by current The Other Place star Bill Pullman (the original “King of New York”). In the musical, Denton was turned into Katherine Plumber (Kara Lindsay), a plucky female reporter who falls in love with head newsie Jack Kelly (Corey Cott). On February 18, Newsies’ worlds collided as Bryan and Katherine came face to face at the Nederlander Theatre. Check out the photo of Pullman backstage meeting Lindsay and Cott.
