The full cast has been announced for the upcoming world premiere of David Byrne and Fatboy Slim’s new musical Here Lies Love, a high-concept theatrical experience that begins performances at the Public Theater on April 2. Opening night is set for April 23, with a scheduled end date of May 5.
Ruthie Ann Miles will star as Filipina First Lady Imelda Marcos alongside Jose Llana as Ferdinand Marcos, Conrad Ricamora as Aquino and an ensemble featuring Renee Albulario, Melody Butiu, Natalie Cortez, Debralee Daco, Joshua Dela Cruz, Kelvin Moon Loh, Jeigh Madjus, Maria-Christina Oliveras, Trevor Salter and Janelle Velasquez.
Set in a pulsating dance club, Here Lies Love tells the story of Filipina First Lady Imelda Marcos and her meteoric rise and fall into infamy. Audiences move and dance with the actors during the 80-minute production, which is packed with throbbing dance music, adrenaline-fueled choreography and a 360-degree scenic and video environment.
Directed by Alex Timbers and choreographed by Annie-B Parson, the show will feature set design by David Korins, costumes by Clint Ramos, lighting by Justin Townsend, sound by M. L. Dogg and Cody Spencer, and projections by Peter Nigrini. Tom Gandey and J Pardo contributed additional music to the score by Byrne and Fatboy Slim.
Miles appeared off-Broadway in Avenue Q and in the national tours of Sweeney Todd and Annie. Llana last appeared on Broadway in Wonderland and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Ricamora appeared in a slew of regional productions, as well as the Will Ferrell film Talladega Nights.
