Shortly after departing Broadway's The Other Place, Daniel Stern has found a new job on the small screen. Stern is set to join NBC's comedy pilot Girlfriend in a Coma, according to Deadline.com.
Girlfriend in a Coma is a single-camera comedy series based on a book by Douglas Coupland...and has quite the interesting premise. Penned by Liz Brixius, the pilot follows Karen (Christina Ricci), a woman who wakes up after nearly two decades in a coma. Much to her surprise she finds out she has a 17-year-old daughter, Evie (Miranda Cosgrove), from a pregnancy she was unaware of while her life was put on hold. Stern will play Karen's father, Tom McNeil, an easy-going electrician who's been raising Evie.
Stern made his Broadway debut in MTC's production of The Other Place, but departed the production early due to personal family matters. He is well known for his roles in such movies as Home Alone, City Slickers and Diner. On TV, he narrated the iconic series The Wonder Years.
