Liz Flahive's The Madrid opens off-Broadway on February 26. Starring Emmy winner and Tony nominee Edie Falco, the Manhattan Theatre Club production will play through April 21 at New York City Center – Stage I.
In addition to Falco, the drama stars Frances Sternhagen, Phoebe Strole, John Ellison Conlee, Christopher Evan Welch, Heidi Schreck, Brooke Ashley Laine and Seth Clayton. Falco stars as Martha, a kindergarten teacher with a life many would desire, complete with a loving husband (Conlee) and devoted daughter, Sarah (Strole). When Martha decides to leave it all behind, it’s up to her daughter to pick up the pieces. The Madrid is a story about motherhood, freedom and trying to see the people in your family as they really are.
Directed by Leigh Silverman, the creative team for The Madrid includes scenic designer David Zinn, costume designer Emily Rebholtz, lighting designer Jeff Croiter and sound designer Jill BC Du Boff. The production features original music by Tom Kitt.
