Classic Stage Company's revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Tony-winning musical Passion opens off-Broadway on February 28. Starring Tony nominees Judy Kuhn and Melissa Errico and Ryan Silverman, the John Doyle-directed production will play through April 7 at the CSC Theatre.
Adapted from the film Passione d'Amore and set in 19th century Italy, Passion follows handsome soldier Giorgio (Silverman), who becomes the object of obsessive love from Fosca (Kuhn), his colonel's chronically ill, bedridden cousin. The story unfolds as Giorgio sends and receives letters from his mistress, Clara (Errico).
Passion features music direction by Rob Berman, costume design by Ann Hould-Ward, lighting design by Jane Cox, sound design by Dan Moses Schreier and orchestration by Jonathan Tunick.
