Smash star Jeremy Jordan, Tony nominee Norm Lewis, Wicked alum Julia Murney and Tony nominee Jennifer Laura Thompson will take on Stephen Schwartz’s classic catalogue for the Carnegie Hall concert The Wizard and I. The April 12 performance will celebrate Schwartz’s 65th birthday and the 10th anniversary of his musical Wicked.
The guest stars will join the New York Pops to perform selections from some of Schwartz’s most well-known stage and screen works including “Magic To Do” from Pippin, “Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas, “The Spark of Creation” from Children of Eden and, of course, songs from the blockbuster musical Wicked.
Steven Reineke will musically direct and conduct the New York Pops. The Broadway veterans will be backed by Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA.
Wicked opened at Broadway’s Gershwin Theatre on September 8, 2003. The original production starred Tony winners Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth. The current Broadway cast features Willemijn Verkaik and Alli Mauzey.
