She's "outta here!" Tony nominee Da’Vine Joy Randolph will take a break from theater to star opposite The Office's Ellie Kemper in the NBC pilot Brenda Forever, according to Deadline.com.
Penned by Andrew Leeds (Broadway’s Falsettos and Les Miserables), Brenda Forever juxtaposes tales from Brenda’s (Kemper) past and present to show how a heavy and awkward 13-year-old girl grows up to become a uniquely fabulous 31-year-old woman. Randolph will play Brenda’s best friend Pearl.
Randolph nabbed a Tony nomination for Broadway debut as eccentric medium Oda Mae Brown in Ghost. She also recently appeared off-Broadway in Atlantic Theater Company’s dark comedy What Rhymes with America? Randolph is a graduate of Yale School of Drama, and Brenda Forever marks her TV debut.
