As the megahit musical Wicked heads toward its 10th Broadway birthday at the Gershwin Theatre in October, original Glinda Kristin Chenoweth tells Broadway.com that she would be open to singing “Popular” again. Asked by London correspondent Matt Wolf if she’d be interested in taking part in a reunion concert with the original cast, Chenoweth replied, “Sure, anything like that! Wicked holds a dear place in my heart, and I can see wanting to do something like that someday, but they’d better hurry up before I get too old!”
Chenoweth is set to launch a four-city U.K. concert tour on March 11 at the London Coliseum, and she spoke with Wolf a week after handling red-carpet duties at the Oscars and singing a duet with host Seth MacFarlane. “He should definitely be in a Broadway show,” she said of MacFarlane, “I don’t care what it is—and I should be opposite him! If he did Broadway, he would have the world at his fingertips.”
In a wide-ranging conversation, Chenoweth also said Smash is “a little bit [too] close to home” to lure her as a guest star, and talked about three musical projects she is developing for Broadway.
