Looks like the Spice Girls musical Viva Forever may play Broadway after all, but not in its current incarnation. The show’s producer Judy Craymer is hoping to bring the London musical to NYC after it undergoes heavy rewrites and a major reworking of the set, according to WENN. Craymer hopes to give Viva Forever a “fresher feel” for Broadway. No word yet on when the production can be expected to land on the Great White Way.
Set in London and Spain, Viva Forever! is the story of a beautiful, talented girl named Viva who gets caught up in the obsession of celebrity TV culture. When she follows her singing dream, she discovers the impact her newfound fame has on her relationships with her mother and friends. The musical features 16 songs from the ’90s girl group, including “Say You’ll Be There,” “Wannabe” and “The Lady Is a Vamp.”
Viva Forever opened at London’s Piccadilly Theatre on December 11, 2012. The West End production features a book by Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous) and is directed by Paul Garrington.
