Hunter Foster, Keith Carradine, Allison Case and the talented cast of Hands on a Hardbody are vying for the piece of the American dream: a fully loaded red pickup truck! Directed by Neil Pepe and featuring lyrics by Amanda Green, music by Trey Anastasio and Green, and a book by Doug Wright, the musical tells the story of 10 hard-luck Texans who compete by keeping one hand on the truck at all times—last man (or woman!) standing wins. Resident artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson headed to the Brooks Atkinson Theatre to cheer on the contestants, then sketched a vibrant portrait of the talented ensemble cast cast. Clockwise, from bottom left: Kathleen Elizabeth Monteleone, Jim Newman, Connie Ray, Scott Wakefield, David Larsen, Mary Gordon Murray, Keith Carradine, Hunter Foster, Keala Settle, Jacob Ming-Trent, Allison Case, Jay Armstrong Johnson, Dale Soules, William Youmans and Jon Rua. Check out Squigs’ portrait, then see Hands on a Hardbody, opening March 21!
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
