Performances for David Byrne and Fatboy Slim’s heart-pumping musical Here Lies Love haven’t even started, and already the Public Theater has announced a two-week extension for the world premiere production. The show begins performances on April 2 and will run through May 19, instead of the originally scheduled end date of May 5.
Directed by Alex Timbers and featuring a dance club score by David Byrne and Fatboy Slim, Here Lies Love is a wholly immersive experience that will put audience members in a 360-degree scenic and video environment. The show tells the story of Filipina First Lady Imelda Marcos’ meteoric rise to celebrity and infamy.
The cast features Ruthie Ann Miles, Jose Llana, Conrad Ricamora, Renee Albulario, Melody Butiu, Natalie Cortez, Debralee Daco, Joshua Dela Cruz, Kelvin Moon Loh, Jeigh Madjus, Maria-Christina Oliveras, Trevor Salter and Janelle Velasquez.
The show comes from a concept by Byrne and will boast choreography by Annie-B Parsons and additional music by Tom Gandey and J Pardo.
