Hands on a Hardbody is burning rubber on the Great White Way! The new, all-American musical opens on March 21 at Broadway’s Brooks Atkinson Theatre, starring Keith Carradine, Hunter Foster and Allison Case. Directed by Neil Pepe, Hands on a Hardbody features music by Phish frontman Trey Anastasio and Amanda Green, lyrics by Green and a book by Doug Wright.
In addition to Carradine as JD Drew, Foster as Benny Perkins and Case as Kelli Mangrum, Hanks on a Hardbody stars Jay Armstrong Johnson as Greg Wilhote, David Larsen as Chris Alvaro, Jacob Ming-Trent as Ronald McCowan, Kathleen Elizabeth Monteleone as Heather Stovall, Mary Gordon Murray as Virginia Drew, Jim Newman as Mike Ferris, Connie Ray as Cindy Barnes, Jon Rua as Jesus Pena, Keala Settle as Norma Valverde, Dale Soules as Janis Curtis, Scott Wakefield as Frank Nugent and William Youmans as Don Curtis.
Based on a real-life competition in Texas, Hands on a Hardbody tells the story of 10 contestants who compete to win a fully loaded pick-up truck—the last one to take their hand off the truck wins it. For one lucky contestant, the competition could mean winning a piece of the American dream.
Hands on a Hardbody features choreography by Sergio Trujillo, set design by Christine Jones, costume design by Susan Hilferty, lighting design by Kevin Adams, sound design by Steve Canyon Kennedy.
