Broadway.com Audience Choice Award winner Cheyenne Jackson may get a healthy dose of supporting star power in his upcoming feature film 6 Dance Lessons In 6 Weeks. The Village Voice reports that acting veterans Rita Moreno, Ann-Margret and Julian Sands have joined Jackson and co-star Gena Rowlands in the screen adaptation of the 2003 Broadway play.
The story follows an energetic dance instructor named Michael Minetti (Jackson), who is hired by an elderly retiree (Rowlands) for private dance lessons in her Florida condo. Moreno and Ann-Margret would ostensibly play Minetti’s other dance students, with Sands on tap as Minetti’s former mentor.
The film is based on Richard Alfieri’s two-hander, which bowed on Broadway in 2003 starring Mark Hamill and Polly Bergen. The show ran for less than a month.
We sure hope the casting news is true—after all, we're still giddy about Moreno's recent appearance on Show People!
