Next to Normal Tony and Broadway.com Audience Choice Award winner Alice Ripley will lead Long Wharf Theatre’s staging of the 2012 Tony-winning play Clybourne Park, according to The Hartford Courant. Ripley will play the dual roles of Bev/Kathy (originated on Broadway by Christina Kirk). No further cast members have been announced for the ensemble show.
Written by Bruce Norris, Clybourne Park presents a pair of racially charged real estate transactions involving one house in 1959 and 2009. The Broadway production starred Kirk, Crystal A. Dickinson, Brendan Griffin, Damon Gupton, Annie Parisse, Jeremy Shamos and Frank Wood.
Directed by Eric Ting, Clybourne Park will play Long Wharf Theatre’s Claire Tow Stage in the C. Newton Schenck Theatre May 8 through June 2.
In addition to Next to Normal, Ripley has appeared on Broadway in Side Show, The Rocky Horror Show, James Joyce’s The Dead, Sunset Boulevard, Les Miserables and The Who’s Tommy.
