Turn on the pottery wheel. The national tour of the musical Ghost will launch at the Proctors Theatre in Schenectady, NY on September 14. The romantic thriller will play engagements in Cincinnati, Atlanta, Pittsburgh and more. No cast members have been announced at this time.
Based on the hit 1990 film starring Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze, Ghost follows a young couple, Sam and Molly, who are mugged one night while walking home to their New York apartment. Sam is murdered and becomes trapped in this world as a ghost, unable to leave Molly, whom he learns is in grave danger. With the help of a storefront psychic, Oda Mae Brown, Sam tries to communicate with Molly from beyond in hopes of protecting her.
Directed by Matthew Warchus, Ghost features a book by Bruce Joel Rubin (adapted from his Oscar-winning screenplay), a score by Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard and choreography by Ashley Wallen. The Broadway mounting opened at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on April 23, 2012 and ran for 136 performances, picking up three Tony nominations.
