The off-Broadway musical celebrating the life of Dusty Springfield, Forever Dusty, will play its final performance at New World Stages on April 7. Written by and starring Kirsten Holly Smith and co-starring Christina Sajous, the musical will have played eight preview performances and 161 regular performances. Producers have announced plans to bring the show to London, Los Angeles and around the country in a national tour, though no dates or theaters are set at this time.
Forever Dusty tells the compelling and moving story of Springfield’s journey from awkward Catholic schoolgirl to rock legend. Directed by Randal Myler, the musical is filled with some of the '60s most recognizable pop songs including “Son of a Preacher Man,” “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me,” “The Look of Love” and many others.
In addition to Smith and Sajous, the closing cast features Coleen Sexton, Benim Foster, Sean Patrick Hopkins, Ashley Betton and Jonathan C. Kaplan. Jonathan Vankin co-wrote the book.
