Tony winner Tyne Daly is heading back to TV in a leading role opposite fellow Broadway vet Missi Pyle in the new CBS comedy pilot Jacked Up.
Deadline.com reports that Daly will play the mother of the lead character Jack (played by Patrick Warburton), a recently retired baseball player who searches for purpose but must first find himself a wife. Pyle will play Jack’s sister, with Rob Huebel as Jack’s best friend Barry.
Daly is known to Broadway audiences for her Tony-winning role in Gypsy and her recent star turns in Rabbit Hole and Master Class, but the grand dame is also a beloved screen actress with credits like Cagney & Lacey and Judging Amy.
Pyle made her Broadway debut in Boeing-Boeing in 2008 and also appeared in the recent revival of Bare at New World Stages. Her film and TV credits include The Artist, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Big Fish, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and recent guest spots on 1600 Penn, Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23 and 2 Broke Girls.
