The Public Theater’s newest and most innovative musical Here Lies Love officially begins performances on April 2. The multimedia theatrical experience, which has a dance club score written by David Byrne and Fatboy Slim, is scheduled to run through May 19.
Here Lies Love follows Filipina First Lady Imelda Marcos and her meteoric rise and subsequent descent into infamy. Set in an authentic club atmosphere, the audience members will stand and move along with the actors throughout the show.
Ruthie Ann Miles takes on the starring role of Imelda Marcos and is joined by Jose Llana as Ferdinand Marcos and Conrad Ricamora as Aquino.
Alex Timbers directs the production, which was conceived by Byrne and features choreography by Annie-B Parsons, set design by David Korins, costume design by Clint Ramos, lighting design by Justin Townsend and sound design by M.L. Dogg and Cody Spencer.
