Goodnight, Sweet Prince! The previously announced premiere of Prince of Broadway, a musical highlighting the career of legendary Broadway director Harold Prince, has been postponed indefinitely due to scheduling conflicts. Originally slated to open during the fall of 2012, the production was pushed back to the fall of 2013. No new premiere dates have been announced.
Co-directed by Prince and Susan Stroman and choreographed by Stroman, The Prince of Broadway was slated to star Linda Lavin (The Lyons), LaChanze (The Color Purple), Sierra Boggess (Master Class), Shuler Hensley (Oklahoma), Emily Skinner (Side Show), Daniel Breaker (Passing Strange), Sebastian Arcelus (Elf), David Pittu (Is He Dead?), Caroline O’Connor (Chicago), Amanda Kloots-Larsen (Follies), Josh Grisetti (Enter Laughing, the Musical) and Richard Kind (The Producers).
Prince earned 21 Tony Awards for directing and producing Broadway shows including Fiddler on the Roof, Cabaret, A Little Night Music, The Phantom of the Opera, Company, Parade, Show Boat, A Little Night Music, On the Twentieth Century, Sweeney Todd, Evita and Merrily We Roll Along.
