Roald Dahl's beloved children's story Matilda is finally on Broadway in a musical directed by Tony winner Matthew Warchus. Matilda tells the story of an extraordinary little girl who dreams of a better life. Armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, Matilda dares to take a stand and change her destiny. Broadway.com resident artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson happily headed to Broadway’s Shubert Theatre to see this larger-than-life musical and penned a colorful salute featuring the show's stars (clockwise from top) Bertie Carvel as the evil headmistress Miss Trunchbull, Karen Aldridge as Mrs. Phelps, Lauren Ward as Miss Honey, Lesli Margherita as Mrs. Wormwood and Gabriel Ebert as Mr. Wormwood. (Four young performers—Sophia Gennusa, Oona Laurence, Bailey Ryon and Milly Shapiro—are making their Broadway debuts and sharing the title role.) About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
