Bullets Over Broadway has found a home on the Great White Way! Directed and choreographed by Susan Stroman, the new musical adaptation of Woody Allen and Douglas McGrath’s comedy is slated to open April 2014 at the St. James Theatre. Casting and exact dates will be announced shortly.
Featuring existing music from the 1920s, Bullets Over Broadway includes a new adapted book by Allen. The new musical comedy tells the story of an aspiring young playwright who is forced to cast a mobster’s talentless girlfriend in his latest drama in order to get it produced. The 1994 film, starring John Cusack and Broadway vets Dianne Wiest and Jennifer Tilly, was nominated for seven Academy Awards. Wiest earned a trophy for Best Supporting Actress.
As previously announced, the production will feature scenic design by Santo Loquasto, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting design by Donald Holder, sound design by Peter Hylenski, orchestrations by Doug Besterman and music arrangements and supervision by Glen Kelly.
