Murder Ballad to Release World Premiere Cast Recording in May

The new musical Murder Ballad will record a cast album featuring John Ellison Conlee, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Karen Olivo and Will Swenson. The recording will be released on May 28.

Conceived by Julia Jordan, with a book and lyrics by Jordan and music and lyrics by Juliana Nash, Murder Ballad tells the story of Sara, an Upper West Sider who seems to have it all, but whose downtown past lingers enticingly and dangerously in front of her. The new rock musical explores the complications of love, the compromises we make and the betrayals that can ultimately undo us.

The musical's transfer begins previews at off-Broadway’s Union Square Theatre on May 7, with opening night set for May 22. Trip Cullman directs the nine-week limited engagement of the show, which earned an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination for Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical and five Lucille Lortel nominations. Caissie Levy will take over the role of Sara for the show's upcoming run.
