Broadway.com resident artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson perfectly captures Chauncey Miles’ (Nathan Lane) signature punch line, “Hi, simply hi!” in the latest Broadway Ink for Lincoln Center Theater's acclaimed play The Nance. Written by Douglas Carter Beane and directed by Jack O’Brien, this Broadway.com Audience Choice Award nominated play tells the story of Chauncey Miles (Lane), a gay nance performer who navigates a successful career with a dangerous new relationship in 1930s New York. In this sketch, Squigs shares his impression of Lane and The Nance ensemble Jonny Orsini, Jenni Barber, Cady Huffman, Andrea Burns and Lewis J. Stadlen in the show’s burlesque milieu. To see them live, head over to The Nance at the Lyceum Theatre.
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
