Tony and Emmy winner Cynthia Nixon may not be on stage currently, but the loyal theater enthusiast is never far from the stage. On April 24, Nixon took in the powerful off-Broadway drama My Name is Asher Lev at the Westside Theatre. Based on the best-selling coming-of-age novel by Chaim Potok, the play explores one young man’s balance between religion and art. After the show, Nixon made her way backstage to meet the talented three-person company Ilana Levine, Mark Nelson and the show’s title star Ari Brand. (Nixon and Nelson, who have been pals since their days in the off-Broadway company Drama Dept., co-starred in Douglas Carter Beane's first hit play, As Bees in Honey Drown, in 1997.)
