The Mystery of Edwin Drood alum Stephanie J. Block pulled out all the stops in her powerhouse performance—she cross-dressed, she got murdered, and she even got her adorable dog Macaco in on the act. Her hard work paid off on May 5, when she snagged the 2013 Broadway.com Audience Choice Award for Favorite Diva Performance—her first-ever award!
“I’m so thrilled,” the Tony nominee told Broadway.com after taking the stage to accept her award. “I’ve been working in this town for a while and I love what I do. This is the first time I’m actually winning something and holding it in my hands to take home—that’s so fun!”
Block, who also served as a presenter at the festivities, knows she couldn’t have taken home the trophy without the help of her loyal fans. “There’s a group out there called the Blockheads, and they are not kidding around,” the actress said with a laugh. “As I always tell them, if they weren’t out there, it’s all just rehearsal—we don’t have a show without them, so thank you so much for Favorite Diva!"
