First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes…death? Tickets are now on sale for My Big Gay Italian Funeral, the off-Broadway sequel to Anthony J. Wilkinson’s wacky comedy My Big Gay Italian Wedding. Directed by Sonia Blangiardo and starring Wilkinson as Anthony, the new comedy begins performances June 1. Opening night is set for June 16 at St. Luke's Theatre.
In addition to Wilkinson, My Big Gay Italian Funeral stars Marissa Perry as Maria, Brett Douglas as Maurizio, Brian Murphy as Peter, Donna Castellano as Angela, Chad Kessler as Rabbi Howie Horowitz, Debra Toscano as Toniann, Mustafa Gatollari as Dominick, Erik Ransom as Vidal, Liz Gerecitano as Lucia, Meagan Robar as Connie, Eva and Aunt Donna and Beth Dzuricky as Ondine, with ensemble members Brandon Goins and Marie Fontaine.
The funny follow-up reunites Anthony with his gay brother Peter Pinnunziato at the funeral of their father Joe. Family drama and crazy characters unite when everything that can possibly happen at an Italian wake certainly will!
My Big Gay Italian Funeral set to run in repertory with My Big Gay Italian Wedding through August.
