Tickets are now on sale for 3 Kinds of Exile, the latest off-Broadway offering from Tony-winning playwright John Guare (Two Gentlemen of Verona, The House of Blue Leaves). Produced by Atlantic Theater and helmed by the company’s artistic director Neil Pepe, the world premiere runs at the Linda Gross Theatre May 15 through 23, with a June 11 opening.
3 Kinds of Exile centers around three Eastern European artists who went into exile during the Soviet era. Based on true events, the three artists forged complicated lives in the West, having struggled and suffered amid the cultural and political turmoil of Eastern Europe in the mid-20th Century.
The new show marks the off-Broadway acting debut of Guare. In addition to the playwright, the cast also features Atlantic ensemble members David Pittu and Peter Maloney, as well as Martin Moran, Alison Cimmet, Jeffrey Kuhn, Kate Rigg, Timothy Splain, Omar Sangare and Jacquelyn Landgraf.
3 Kinds of Exile features set design by Takeshi Kata, costume design by Susan Hilferty, lighting design by Donald Holder and original music and sound design by Josh Schmidt.
