David Byrne and Fatboy Slim’s new musical Here Lies Love, which has extended three times at the Public Theater, has announced plans for a cast recording of the genre-hopping show. The album will begin recording next week, the Public confirmed.
Here Lies Love is easily one of the most unique theatrical experiences to come to New York in quite some time. From the second audience members walk into the theater, they’re immersed in a 360-degree scenic and video environment that finds them dancing along to the throbbing dance club score and interacting with the actors as they tell the story of Filipina First Lady Imelda Marcos and her meteoric rise to stardom…and infamy.
The cast features Ruthie Ann Miles, Jose Llana, Conrad Ricamora, Renee Albulario, Melody Butiu, Natalie Cortez, Debralee Daco, Joshua Dela Cruz, Kelvin Moon Loh, Jeigh Madjus, Maria-Christina Oliveras, Trevor Salter and Janelle Velasquez.
The show comes from a concept by Byrne and features direction by Alex Timbers (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), choreography by Annie-B Parsons, set design by David Korins, costume design by Clint Ramos, lighting design by Justin Townsend, sound design by M.L. Dogg and Cody Spencer, projection design by Peter Nigrini and additional music by Tom Gandey and J Pardo.
